WHY LIVELIHOOD MATTERS

India’s young population represents a tremendous resource for the country’s social and economic development. However, many young people from disadvantaged communities continue to face challenges due to limited access to skills, quality training, employment opportunities, and career guidance. Equipping them with practical and market-relevant skills can help transform their potential into sustainable livelihood opportunities.Our Livelihood Programme focuses on empowering underprivileged youth and women by providing them with skills, knowledge, confidence, and pathways towards employment and self-employment. By creating opportunities for skill development and income generation, we aim to help individuals become more economically independent, strengthen their families, and contribute positively to the development of their communities.

OUR LIVELIHOOD INITIATIVES

Our Livelihood & Skill Development Programme is designed to create pathways from learning to earning for young people, women, and individuals from underserved communities. We provide practical skills, digital literacy, career awareness, vocational training, and employment-oriented learning that help participants build confidence, improve their capabilities, and access sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Through community-based training, industry-relevant skills, entrepreneurship awareness, and career guidance, we work to bridge the gap between available opportunities and the skills required to access them. Our approach focuses not only on training, but also on helping individuals become more employable, financially independent, and better prepared for the changing world of work.

The programme complements national priorities around Skill Development, Digital Inclusion, Women’s Economic Empowerment and Decent Work, while contributing to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
